Parking Problem

Parking Problem (an allegory)

Where I once worked the carpark was small
And parking as such was a freeforall
So many faces
So few spaces
The dawn shift daily was blocked by the late
With yellow lines everywhere on the estate
Working delayed if for a short while
The parking problem was put to the trial
For rare’s the boss
Who loves labour lost
And two minutes here another five there
Was more than the new director could bear
In the boardroom we gathered a shift each
To meet the new boss and hear the same speech
On efficiency
Productivity
The which we’re losing through parking he said
Flexing his remedy full steam ahead
A limited space allocated
To all length of service related
As for the rest
He couldn’t care less
Not my problem said he being done
His own allocation space number one
Remembering that staff meeting now
I’m minded of arrogance privilege power
A rich politician
A tough decision
The down-trodden bearing the brunt of it
And the callous rule-makers who benefit
